About
I am a New York based actor, director and educator that enjoys telling stories about the complexities of the human spirit. I have a passion to give voice to the stories and characters that uplift how we walk through the world. And how we maneuver to form the relationships in our lives. I am fueled by African American stories, poetic language stories, musical stories, stories of rebellion, stories of discovery, and the many untold stories of women.
I am excited by looking at classical plays through our 21st century lenses, and working with new plays that give voice to the many conflicts that we face today. I believe that great art is timeless. Whether a story is set in 1879 or 2039, it should touch our hearts, and awaken our curiosity. Theatre and film are exciting because they’re personal. They affect the audience in the moment, in real time, in a space that is shared with other human beings.
I’ve studied music at Converse College in South Carolina, and received my MFA in Acting from Binghamton University - Chaired by Gene Lesser. I’ve also studied with master teachers Ron Van Lieu, and Lloyd Richards. I am an Artistic Associate at Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, and studied the art of working on new plays with Circle Rep greats Lanford Wilson and Craig Lucas. As an educator, my relationships include the D. Geffen School of Drama at Yale, Juilliard School Drama Division, NYU Tisch Graduate Acting, Syracuse University, Hunter College, City College of New York, NYU Gallatin School, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I am also a private acting coach for both film and stage.
